About the Author

The Author: Andrew Johnson

Andy Johnson was born and educated in York, attending Dringhouses Primary School and Ashfield Secondary Modern (now the site of York College). He joined the Army at the age of 16, just weeks after leaving school, and enlisted in the Coldstream Guards. He served in the regiment for 24 years, seeing service in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan, before retiring in March 2009 as the Regimental Sergeant Major of the Coldstream Guards. He is an active member of the Coldstream Guards Association and in 2009 was  awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for his exemplary service over a quarter of a century.

Andy spent four years of his military career as an instructor at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the world’s foremost leadership academy. He has had several professional military articles published in the Coldstream Guards Gazette (2008) and the Guards Magazine (Spring 2008), including ‘Fighting Patrol to Mirmandab’ and ‘That Article There’. He features in the DVD Documentary British Military Heritage: The Story of the Guards (Strike Force Entertainment 2010). He also contributed an article to the Coldstream Guards regimental history book ’10 years in Afghanistan’ which was published in February 2016.

Andy completed his Masters Degree in Business Administration in 2016. In addition to writing fiction and fantasy novels, he is the Managing Director of From The Front Consultancy Ltd and a lecturer in leadership, business, entrepreneurship, human resource management and development at Anglia Ruskin University London and Coventry University College. He is also an active professional speaker and appears at a wide variety of events UK-wide.

When not lecturing, consulting or writing, Andy likes to travel Europe and study historical battlefields. He is also the chairman of a veterans organisation and a keen long-distance runner.


Seelöwe Nord is the online home of Andy Johnson, a war fiction novelist. Seelöwe Nord is a war novel that tells the alternative history of Operation Sealion, the proposed German invasion of Britain in 1940. Followed by Thunder in May, and the recently released Crucible of Fate, the trilogy of War Fiction remains a popular read within the genre.

Andy has also started to publish small Leadership and Management Booklets drawing from his extensive experience across many sectors and industries, both military and civilian, the first of which is entitled Captains of the Gate and is now available for download on eReaders directly from Amazon.
