Docu-novel to feature on this site

In response to the many questions I have received about the scenario I created for Seelowe Nord, I have decided to try and answer them by means of an online docu-novel. I have had a really good response to the novel but as you might expect, my instigation of a German invasion of mainland Britain on the east coast has created furious debate amongst World War II enthusiasts.

As I make clear in the forward to the book, I am aware, particularly as a former-soldier, of the immense difficulties faced by Germany in 1940 when considering a landing operation in Britain. I make no attempt to enter into the historical melee of “Could the Germans have really done it..?” The novel was designed as a vehicle for vivid descriptions of men in battle at every level and on both sides. To that end, I conveniently ignored Germany’s appalling destroyer losses in Norway and credited them with the development of half-decent landing barges which historically didn’t exist at the time, along with numerous other acts of artistic license.

Given that there is such an appetite for debate and interest in the scenario itself, especially amongst the wargaming community, I will, from this weekend, launch my docu-novel on this site. It will probably take the form of a weekly update in which I will describe, in reference book style, the unfolding scenario of Seelowe Nord. Hopefully, the extra detail will be especially useful to the wargaming world, and perhaps just provide a stimulating but light read for others with a passing interest in the book.

Kind regards – please watch this space…
